Selma Zafar has over 10 years experience in designing innovative and usable software and hardware. She ensures that the needs of the end-user remain at the heart of the research, design and development process. Selma has lead the usability and overall user experience for products and websites for Nokia, Telus, Tourism British Columbia, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Mountain Equipment Co-op. With OpenRoad, Selma contributes to the user centered design practice and philosophy by bringing a breadth of experience and knowledge from a multitude of industries. She leads clients through the user experience process ensuring that they come out informed about their users, the design and usability in general. Selma has given talks on user experience design, specifically how to design for mobile devices in Vancouver.
Prior to joining OpenRoad, Selma was the Director of User Experience with Fjord Interactive (division of Cossette). For 3 years, Selma was an instructor with the Langara College Communication and Ideation Design Program teaching courses in Human Factors and Information Design. An active member in the Vancouver User Experience Group (VanUE), Selma helped to plan World Usability Day 2009 for Vancouver.
