At OpenRoad, we don't limit ourselves to any one vendor or product. Often, our clients have made an investment in one of the major technology platforms. Our job is to ensure that whatever we build integrates fully with that environment.
Our "technology agnostic" approach allows us to focus on best of breed solutions, regardless of the vendor. We recognize that blended technology environments are common in today's organizations and our knowledge of multiple platforms allows us to create solutions that bring together disparate systems.
Microsoft
We became a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for the Data Management and ISV/Software Solutions Competencies by consistently demonstrating superior levels of successful implementations, capabilities and certification. In addition to employing Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs), we show deep, real-world experience and completed customer reference projects that were independently verified by Microsoft.
Our partnership with Microsoft benefits both our company and yours. We have in-depth access to a variety of exclusive resources and early product information. Resources include priority access to a support team of Microsoft-certified systems engineers, non-disclosure evaluations of new products and technologies, as well as planning tools and events to keep up-to-speed on the latest Microsoft product developments and future directions. Our partnership also means that Microsoft will continue to invest in our certification and enhanced resources and support.
We have been using Microsoft's web technologies since the first version of Internet Information Server, building applications using ASP & COM to the current .NET architecture. From tweaking out every last cycle of performance from SQL Server to using web services on tablet PC's to interact with data management systems, our developers are experts in working with Microsoft's tools.
Our intranet product ThoughtFarmer is a Microsoft-based web application developed using ASP.NET, MS SQL Server, and Active Directory and is officially certified under the Microsoft Platform Test for ISV Solutions for Windows Server and SQL Server 2005.
Java
We've also been very active in the Java development community, managing the Vancouver Java Users Group since 1997 and developing a wide variety of Java based applications, including web applications powered by J2EE and web services. We've spoken at JavaOne, provided Java course material review services, and even authored a few chapters in Java books.
Open source
In 1995 we started our web development careers using Perl and Open Source tools and they've proven to be just as useful today, powering some of the best and most innovative sites on the web. With Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL and their increasing acceptance in the business community, we continue to develop enterprise level applications using these cost effective tool. We also work with a range of open source content management systems like Plone, Expression Engine, and Alfresco.
We will never force you to use a technology just because it is the current flavour of the month. After all, if you're only holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail. At OpenRoad, we like a bigger toolbox.
