Connecting volunteers with opportunities
Not for profits (NFPs) across the Lower Mainland faced the challenge of having to contact multiple regional volunteer centres in order to advertise their volunteer positions. This process was time consuming for NFPs and meant that Lower Mainland volunteers would sometimes miss out on volunteer opportunities in other communities, that they were not aware of. GoVolunteer was designed to bring all NFPs and volunteers in the Lower Mainland together in one central place for volunteer job postings.

OpenRoad designed and developed a web-based application that allows for volunteer centres to manage their NFP contact information, as well as the ability for NFPs to login, post, and manage their volunteer opportunities. An online library component also allows users to search through Volunteer Vancouver’s extensive collection of books, journals, audio and video tapes. Integrated email messages and workshop announcements make sure that the community stays connected. GoVolunteer.ca provides volunteers with over 3500 volunteer job opportunities for the Lower Mainland. Since its launch, the system has expanded to provide its services for volunteer centres and NFPs in Alberta.
