Ministry of HR ESI wins GTEC Award

GTEC Week is the most significant event of the year devoted to celebrating, learning, networking, and advancing the body of knowledge on the management of information and the use of innovative technologies to improve government operations and public service delivery. The BC Ministry of Human Resources Electronic Service Initiative (ESI), developed by OpenRoad and Karo, won a Bronze medal for Innovative Service Delivery to Citizens and Businesses. The ESI projects include three interactive public websites offering tools for estimating Income Assistance and Child Care Subsidies, an online client orientation; and a toll-free interactive telephone service. By providing convenient, accessible service, the estimator and orientation applications have reduced inquiries to ministry offices as much as six-fold, and the online client orientation is expected to save $3 million annually.
