OpenRoad Communications wins three Summit Creative Awards

OpenRoad’s print, web, and illustration work wins three Silver Summit Creative Awards.

OXD website design shown on desktop, tablet, and mobile formats

We're thrilled to have our creative work recognized by the Summit Creative Awards. The OpenRoad team won three awards at the 2018 show, which received more than 5,000 submissions. For more than two decades, the Summit Awards have been arbiters of creative excellence. This year we submitted a series of branded icon illustrations, a printed holiday greeting card, and a website landing page. We're proud to work on such a wide range of projects, and happy to have our work recognized.

Summit Creative Awards celebrate internal projects

Our first submission is our Creative Services page, which won Silver in the Industry Self-Promotion Website/Interactive Media category. This landing page serves to showcase our creative services and demonstrate our design expertise. Our team of visual and UX designers highlighted two visually-driven projects. More specifically, the page demonstrates their skills in making beautiful, creative, usable, and responsive designs. The landing page showcases projects ranging from digital storytelling to visual identity.

Inspired by our neighbourhood

The second winner was our printed holiday card for clients. Expressing gratitude to clients is an important practice throughout our history. Every year, our designers look forward to designing these cards, because so many of their projects live online. This was a great opportunity to produce something tactile and show our design chops. The card features one of Gastown’s wrought iron lamps, reimagined as a decorated tree and printed in a metallic foil for effect. The cards were sent to clients along with a box of chocolates, locally-made by our neighbours at East Van Roasters. We're especially proud to share these chocolates with clients because East Van Roasters is a social enterprise that trains and employs women from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. This holiday card design was award Silver in the Card/Announcement/Invitation category.

Bringing a brand’s personality to life

The third win was a series of illustrated icons designed for the ThoughtFarmer website. These icons reflect ThoughtFarmer’s playful brand, which differentiates them from their competitors. The icons feature rich hues and natural elements aligned with ThoughtFarmer's branding. These support icons won Silver in the Illustration category.

We’re proud to have our own internal projects and client work celebrated by Summit Creative Awards.
