Mission-critical sales and financial reporting
In the mid 2000’s, Intrawest Playground handled the sales and marketing for over 450 resort real-estate projects at 48 destination resorts world-wide. Playground was tracking this information using a combination of Excel worksheets and a standalone application running at each resort. Creating summary reports and tracking the sales of units was a time intensive activity requiring the involvement of many staff, from sales to accounting.
OpenRoad developed a web based solution for handling the data collection and reporting requirements for Playground, called the Sales Tracking and Reporting System (STAR). Intensive requirements gathering sessions led to a design optimized for use under time critical project launch situations as well as standard day-to-day operations. The financial engine that powers the application ensures that all changes are tracked, allowing accurate financial reports for both real-time and historical information.
At its peak, STAR tracked over 5 billion dollars worth of resort sales information. Users all over the world, from North America, Mexico and Europe used STAR to track the sales that occur within their resorts. Playground and Intrawest management generated real-time reports on forecasted and actual sales results throughout their organization.
